Photowalking Utah
14 01 2008I have always enjoyed taking photographs. I really started getting into photography about two years ago when I bought my first (and still only) DSLR. Although at first I just used a fancier camera to take faster snapshots, I have really learned a lot and think I take much better photographs now.
One of the ways I have learned the most is through other photographers. Thanks to the internet it is easier than ever to share knowledge and see other photogs’ work. One of my favorite internet sites to visit is Flickr. I have learned more about photography from other photo enthusiasts (some amateurs, others semi-pro and pros) than in any other place.
On Saturday I had the opportunity to learn all about studio photography from some local pros through the hobby group called Photowalking Utah. This group gathers on a monthly basis to network, learn from each other and have fun. Since it has been so cold, this months event was organized to take place inside a local church where different studio setups could be made. It was cool to see all of the different setups you can have and practice on them. Steph asked me if it was helpful and if I learned anything. My reply was that “yes, I learned a lot. I learned that I need a bunch of new gear!”
Here are a few of my studio shots:

Thanks to Rich, Anne and Brian who helped organize the event. Thanks also to everyone else who brought in their studio setups to teach and let us practice. Also, it was great to meet some of you photographers who I have been following on Flickr, keep up the great work!
See you next time!
