Y Fam

17 01 2008

So we bought a new car in November. A Chrysler Aspen to be exact and we love it. I only get to drive it when Steph lets me but thats okay because she has the hardest job in the family and deserves it.

Anyway, I decided that I wanted to get a personalized plate for it. Then came the hard decision of what to put on it. The choice became even more difficult when I saw how many choices I had to make. Which type of plate do I want? A standard or a customized one? They just came out with a new standard plate that is pretty cool and I would be one of the few cars on the road with it. But . . . the customized plates had even more choices including a BYU version. Then, depending on which plate type you choose determines how many letters or numbers you can put on the plate. Ay yi yi!

I finally decided that I wanted the BYU version. It cost a little more but the money goes toward BYU’s general scholarship fund so I figured it was a good cause. Then I enlisted the help of Steph to help choose what the plate would spell out. We only had a maximum of five letters/numbers to work with but this is what we finally came up with:

Y FAM

“Y FAM” – get it?!

Y for Yrungaray and FAM for Family

or

Y for BYU and FAM for Family.

Yeah I know, we are tricky like that ;) So if you ever see ‘YFAM’ out cruisin’, be sure and honk!

Nice one, John! I always wanted to have a BYU plate when I was living there, but never got to buying a new car, so had to keep the old one.

I suppose your other choice was the new Utah plate that has red colors and looks like U of U sign?

You are nice. :)
I don’t think I can take the credit for helping make up the name, that was all you! I just approved of it.

Now someone can REALLY steal our kids since they know our license plate! Geesh!

Ivan: thanks for the comment! you can get the U and pretty much all the schools here as well as some other non-collegiate plate. Still a bummer that the plate has the word Utah on it in red. Of well, I guess I live in the state of Utah so what am I going to do?!?!

Allison: yeah I was a little surprised too, YFAM for life baby! :)

Steph: Until I post the GPS location info for your car don’t worry too much! :)

Love it. I don’t think I’ll see you on the roads in Washington, unfortunately.
