She can’t get enough of the water

21 07 2008

Maya just loves the water.  When she sees or hears the water from afar she will madly start making the sign for water (both hands straight out bouncing them up and down as if she were splashing in the water).  She is also very aware of where the bathtub is and since she is now mobile, she frequently heads straight to the bathroom whenever she gets the chance just to make sure she isn’t missing out on any splashing fun.

I thought this photo captured how much she really enjoys it.

Jess and Quinn, sorry it took me a little while to get these up.  I’ll put the rest of them in the mail in a day or two.  So glad that we got to spend the morning with you and catch up!  Here are some of mine and Steph’s favorites.

Outtake #1 – Do you think that they maybe saw a Kung Fu movie starring a panda recently or something? :)

Outtake #2 – Just a portrait of the boys.  Also Quinn practicing his ‘Blue Steel’ look. :)

Afternoon in Manti

26 06 2008

Our good friend Mary asked me if I would come do some family portraits of her sister Erin and her family in Manti, Utah over the weekend.  Of course I said yes!  Erin and Bridger, congratulations to you again and thanks for letting us be part of your special day.  Even though it was hot outside, Forest was a perfect baby and is super cute!  The rest of the photos will be in the mail tomorrow, but in the meantime, enjoy a few here   :)

If you are in need of Family, Engagement or Wedding portraits, please check John Sebastian Photography for details.

Lakers to the NBA Finals!

30 05 2008

Us Laker fans (I have always been a fan, no band wagon here thank you very much!) have had a few rough past couple of years. After 3 championships and after Shaq and Kobe couldn’t get along anymore, Shaq split for Miami. That’s when things started going downhill in L.A. The team looked to be at its worst last summer when Kobe publicly demanded a trade.

Thanks to the addition of Pau Gasol, Kobe had another big man that could move and really excel in the triangle offense. Odom stepped up his game as the third option and D-Fish continued having big names night after night.

We wrapped up the reguar season as the number one seed in the West. 12 post season wins later, we win the West. I hope I don’t jinx our chance of a ring but I came across this video from a past championship parade. You gotta love Mark ‘Mad Dog’ Madsen!!!

GO LAKERS!!!

Race for a Cure, Salt Lake City

23 05 2008

Last year I ran the race this year by myself.  Ever since Zach watched me cross that finish line he has been wanting to run a race me.  Although it would be really good for me, I don’t run as often as I should and to be honest, I don’t think that I have run since last April for the 2007 race.  Anyway, Zach was super stoked to run and Steph convinced her sisters and nieces and nephews to join us this year.

It is always inspiring to see so many people supporting a cause like fighting breast cancer.  If the race is coming to a city near you, you should check it out too!

A couple of side notes about the race, then some photos:

  •  Go to the booths where they give you free stuff before the race (or your child will be sad that everyone is walking around with a popsicle except him!)
  • Keep an eye on your eager child – As soon as we reached the starting line, Zach asked “Can we start now?  Next thing I know, I’m sprinting after him weaving in and out around people. I knew he was excited but didn’t see that coming :) (see pic below)
  • Invite people you know to participate.  Get some exercise and have a good time.
  • Carry a cell phone so when your friends you invited get separated and lost from you in the masses, you can hook back up.

Shake it, shake shake shshake it!

1 05 2008

You’ll have to read the whole post to understand the title on this post.

Saturday we spent a nice spring morning out and about. First, we got up and headed to Ruth’s Diner in Emigration Canyon for some yummy biscuits and breakfast. After that I convinced everyone to accompany me to the ‘park’. Of course Zach thought it would be a park with a playground but I was really scouting out photo spots for a wedding I am shooting in August. I’m so tricky! We arrived to Memory Grove and fortunately there were rivers to throw rocks in and lots of grass to run on so Zach was happy. I also managed to get him to pose for a few shots here and there. Maya was a little more patient with me and I got some shots of her enjoying the sunshine as well.

After the park, we headed to the grocery store for a few things and waited for Bri/Kevin and Matt and the boys to join us for dinner and the Lakers game. By the way, the Lakeshow just finished sweeping the Nuggets and I’m really pulling for the Jazz to win so I might have a chance to go to a Lakers playoff game here in Salt Lake. Come on Utah, don’t let me down!!!

just before the shakin began

Finally, the reason for the title of the post . . . check out this animation of Zach. So at Memory Grove there is this small structure with huge columns. I got Zach to pose for me by this structure. He was patient with me for about 62 seconds (photo above) and then all of a sudden he turned around and started shakin’ it while making some funny random noise. It caught the attention of a wedding party nearby (getting their own photos taken) who thought he was pretty funny. This kid just cracks me up!

Shake It!

Mr. big boy reader

19 04 2008

Zach is doing so well reading these days. He has had his letters memorized for a while now and we just recently started working with him on having him sound out the words for himself. He has caught on so fast!  This kid cracks me up sometimes :)  Check out Steph’s latest post as well!

We recorded this video on my MacBook Pro and I edited it a bit in iMovie, pretty slick!

Vacation is over

9 04 2008

It has been a wonderful few days in California visiting Grammy and Grandpa, Ben, Allison, Anna, Adam and Isabel. Today we spent some time at the beach and it was perfect!!!

I’ll write more about our trip later but for now I’ll just say that I’m sad to leave this warm, green, heavenly-orange-blossom-smelling place I call home.
