Vacation is over

9 04 2008

It has been a wonderful few days in California visiting Grammy and Grandpa, Ben, Allison, Anna, Adam and Isabel. Today we spent some time at the beach and it was perfect!!!

I’ll write more about our trip later but for now I’ll just say that I’m sad to leave this warm, green, heavenly-orange-blossom-smelling place I call home.

Anyone that has children and takes pictures of them regularly knows that before long your kids are either totally bored with getting their picture taken or they find ways to entertain themselves while you are trying to point your camera in their face. Zach is certainly well past the point that he loves me taking his photo, but every once in a while he’ll surprise me.

I ordered a backdrop setup so that I could take studio type photos of the kids and hopefully transition that into more business for my on the side photography business. Sunday after church was the perfect time to get some shots of Zach and Maya while they were still in their Easter outfits.

Somehow Zach got his shirt unbuttoned after we got inside and by the time I got everything setup, he pretty much refused to button it back up if I wanted to take his picture. What can I say, he had me hostage. So I went with it. He started working it, so I kept shooting. For some reason he didn’t want Steph in the room while his shirt was unbuttoned so we made her and Maya wait in the hall.

Check out some of his other shots here, here and here.

We had a good time and since it was HIS photoshoot, he was definitely interested in how he looked, running over to the camera after every shot, “daddy, let me see that one!”

Making history

11 03 2008

Wow, I can’t believe that it has been almost a month since my last post. My excuse?

Work.

In October I left eBay and accepted a position at a company called Move Networks. At Move we doing streaming video for the worlds premier broadcast companies. ABC, Fox, CW ESPN and Televisa all use Move Networks technology to stream their television programs to the masses.

If you haven’t checked out our HD feeds, you are missing out. If you have a fairly new computer and a fast broadband internet connection, prepare to be WOW’ed!!! :)

Move clients

Most recently we partnered with Oprah to stream a special webcast of a 10 week class discussing her newest book club book, A New Earth. Over 800,000 people registered for the event and at our peak we streamed the event to over 500,000 people simultaneously. This was the largest concurrent event ever broadcast on the internet which is a pretty exciting thing to be a part of. We ran into a few glitches which we corrected for the second class this evening and everything went off without a hitch.

If you haven’t watched video online, you should start, now! :)

Flash Mob

14 02 2008

Another interesting video I came across. This wasn’t as funny to me as the previous video I posted but I thought it was pretty cool. Almost like a scene out of a TV show like Heroes or something.

If you have ever heard of flash mobs, I thought this was cool variation of that.

I just wonder what was going through some of these peoples heads as they looked on?

Oh, and Happy Valentines Day!

“Charlie bit me”

8 02 2008

This made me laugh so I thought I would pass it along to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. You gotta love the british accent!!

If you haven’t read Steph’s post about Zach and his own accents, check it out here.

Have a great day!

Snowday Sunday

6 02 2008

On Sunday morning we woke up to a great surprise, a huge storm was pounding Herriman. We later found out that we received 18″ of new snow in less than 24 hours. I think that the 18″ from all of our neighbors blew into our yard and driveway. We had tons of snow. Because we had so much snow, we found out church was cancelled. I never thought that would happen but Steph had me eating my words when we got the phone call.

After breakfast, Zach and I suited up and started shoveling the driveway. Fortunately some neighbors came by to help us out and we had it cleared in no time. Mike, if you are reading this, thanks for pushing a bunch of snow with your four wheeler!

After we had the driveway finished, Zach and I played for a while. Zach thought it would be cool if we built an igloo. I thought that would be pretty cool too since I’m a California boy and have never built one myself, so we did it! As you can see Zach loved it. After this we raced around the yard jumping and falling into the large snowdrifts.

What a fun snowday Sunday!

z and the elephant

27 01 2008

We made a quick trip to the zoo today. Everyone has been sick for what seems like FOREVER. So that also means that we have been house-bound that entire time (except for lucky me who goes to work everyday :)

Zach was stoked to be out of the house and go somewhere fun. It was funny to hear how excited he was to see the giraffes! We passed a ton of other animals on the way to the giraffes and he didn’t care about anything else until after he saw the giraffes. I think it might have something to do with him getting the opportunity to feed giraffes and the San Diego Zoo last summer. He didn’t get to feed them this time but we sure had fun.

Check out Steph’s version of our trip.

My wife is the greatest

27 01 2008

Yes, its true. My wife is the best! I’ve had a stressful several weeks at work. Thursday night I was up late working, I got about 4 hours of sleep and left the house for the office Friday morning before everyone was awake.

As I sat in my super fun Friday morning marathon meeting, Steph IM’d me and said she had good news. Although I was hoping that her years of playing the lottery had paid off, that wasn’t it. She told me that she had scheduled a massage for me after work.

Woohoo! I love massages and I’m sure that I had some knots in my back from the stress. It was so nice that I even fell asleep.

Thanks sweetie, you’re the best!
